State Champion Skeet Shoot Team

The Sporting Clays team at The King's Academy won the State Championship for the sport on May 12, 2007. Coach Matt Terrio and his team were excited to bring the first State Championship title, in any sport, home to TKA. This is an amazing feat, considering this is the first year the school has offered Sporting Clays as a spring sport.

This may be the first year the sport was officially offered, however for the past six years, students and friends of The King's Academy have had the opportunity to sharpen their skills at the annual Palmetto Pines Sporting Clays Classic that is held in October. The event benefits various projects for the school and is chaired by Kent Caudle and Cary Andrews. It is from this event that the idea for a Sporting Clays team originated.

The team that took first place in the Intermediate division at the State Championship included Austin Mogy, Richmond Wilhoit and Nicholas Long. The Intermediate team  that earned the runner-up title included Robert Baumgardner, Harrison Boatwright and Braxton Ivey. Other members of the team including Katelynn Alcorn, Adam Cameron, Will McDonald, Clint Mims, BK Phillips, Taylor Ryals, Patrick Smith, Charlie Spruill and Andrew Stewart are to be congratulated as well for their hard work and dedication to this team. The King's Academy has been invited to participate in the National Championship in Austin, Texas on July 14 and 15.
